About the Festival: Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) is the flagship event for the leading events management and production company espAfrika, which has staged and produced several world-renowned events. The festival annually boasts 5 stages with more than 40 artists performing over 2 nights. The programming – unique to the CTIJF is made up of a 50/50 split between South African artists and international artists respectively. The festival hosts in excess of 37, 000 music lovers over the 2 show days.

About the Festival: Mahalia Jackson, often called the greatest gospel singer, returned to her hometown to appear at the first New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in April of 1970. From the very beginning, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival was envisioned as an important event that would have great cultural significance and popular appeal. The Festival was the culmination of years of discussions and efforts by city leaders who wanted to create an event worthy of the city’s legacy as the birthplace of jazz.

About the Festival: Gospel music can trace its ancestry to the ceremonial music of West Africa, the spirituals and camp meeting hymns of the South, and the swinging jazz and blues of the urban North, but it all came together in Chicago. Thanks to the Chicago Gospel Music Festival, we gather each year to pay righteous tribute to America’s great musical art form on the holy ground where it was born.

ESSENCE FESTIVAL (3 – 4 performances)

About the Festival: The Essence Music Festival, known as “the party with a purpose”, is an annual music festival which started in 1995 as a one-time event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence, a magazine aimed primarily towards African-American women. The Essence Music Festival is one of the biggest celebrations in New Orleans every year. Usually scheduled for the weekend of July 4th, the festival draws huge crowds for both its music and its celebration of black culture. Essence Fest draws the best of both national and local acts, with a strong representation of both the commercial sounds of rap, hip-hop, R&B, gospel and the local flavor of brass bands, jazz, and blues.

SUMMERFEST, THE WORLD’S LARGEST MUSIC FESTIVAL (1 performance)

Wednesday, June 29 – Sunday, July 10, 2016

Location: Milwaukee, WI

About the Festival: Most recently, festival producer, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. renovated approximately 22-acres of the 75-acre site, Henry Maier Festival Park, with a 2-phased $35 million construction project, the biggest in Summerfest history. Phase One of the redevelopment project featured a new Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, South Gate and Box Office, as well as new food and beverage buildings and restrooms which was completed for Summerfest 2011. Phase Two of the project was completed for Summerfest 2012 and included a covered music venue on the waterfront, the BMO Harris Pavilion as well as a elevated covered lakeside bar, restrooms and unique lakeshore amenities for festival-goers.
